In response to CP2030, Blake Clough have developed tools to
estimate which contracted projects are likely to receive Gate 2 offers following NESO’s upcoming Gate 2 to Whole Queue process (CMP435).
We combine planning data with network data to form re- rdered connections queues for comparison against Zonal and GB-wide CP2030 targets.
Our Clean Power 2030 services include:
- Assessment of individual projects against the CP2030 Plan to provide specific guidance on likely outcomes and next-steps. This includes:
- Sensitivity analysis on the impact of a change in planning status.
- Assessment of the impact on a project’s connection date and enabling works following CP2030 and project attrition in the local network.
- Capacity Scouting for Greenfield Development across GB, carried out in two phases:
- Phase 1 identifies all CP2030 Zones with remaining headroom for BESS, Solar and Wind that offer the best opportunity for new connection applications.
Our outputs are helping developers to identify which projects warrant continued investment and to understand the actions that can mitigate the risks brought about by these reforms.
CP2030 First Ready, First Connected
What is Clean Power 2030?
The Clean Power 2030 Action Plan (CP2030), published by the UK government in December 2024, outlines a comprehensive strategy to achieve a predominantly clean power system by 2030.
The plan focuses on three primary objectives: ensuring a secure and affordable energy supply, fostering new industries and investments nationwide, and mitigating the adverse effects of climate change.
Key initiatives of Clean Power 2030 include:
- Accelerating the deployment of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar
- Reforming planning and consenting processes to expedite infrastructure development
- Overhauling the electricity grid connections system to prioritise critical projects.
The plan also emphasises the importance of collaboration among government entities, industry stakeholders, and investors to facilitate this transition.
By implementing these measures, the UK aims to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels, protect consumers from volatile energy prices, and position itself as a leader in clean energy innovation.
