The purpose of energy regulators is to protect energy customers to ensure they are treated fairly, and increasingly to ensure that low carbon energy provision is adopted.
As such, regulators develop policy to promote and encourage these areas, as well as setting the price controls for companies that operate the gas and electricity networks. Regulators are also responsible for promoting innovation and encouraging network operators to find new and more efficient ways to run and operate their networks.
Providing techno-economic support to determine the value case for an enterprise.
Regulators may require technical support to assess price control submissions, to understand the impact of the introduction of new legislation, to assist in making recommendations for proposed regulatory changes or to assess specific actions of network operators. We have significant experience in working with Ofgem on these questions, but also a number of other regulators globally.
